How long do I have to sue if I have been injured by another driver?

Most commonly three years, but there are some instances where the statutes of limitations is much shorter than that. There are claims involving a defendant that is a governmental entity that requires the filing of a notice of claim within 90 days of thea accident.

What's the difference between Social Security Disability and SSI?

Social Security Disability is a disability pension earned by a worker for the benefit of the worker and, in some cases, his or her dependents. SSI, or Supplemental Security Income, is federal assistance for the disabled with little family income. Both require the claimant to be disabled.

Can I get a credit card after I have filed bankruptcy?

It is highly likely that you can get a credit card after your debts are discharged in bankruptcy, but whether that is a good idea is another matter. You should be aware that you cannot file a Chapter 7 bankruptcy again for eight years after filing a previous Chapter 7 bankruptcy in which your debts were discharged.

What's the difference between a constested and unconsted divorce?

An uncontested divorce is where the defendant defaults or waives his/her apperance following service of a summons. A contested divorce is where the defendant appears. Commonly, the defendant's apperance involves retaining a lawyer.

Why do I have two DWI charges?

Frequently a defendant will be charged with driving while intoxicated due to an alleged blood alcohol content in excess of .08%, and will have a second common law DWI due to an allegation that there are sensory indications of intoxication, such as glassy eyes, slurred speech, the odor of an alcoholic beverage on the breath, and others.

What information do I need to draft a will?

A will must conatain, at a minimum, the names of the people or organizations to whom you wish to leave your property, what property you wish to leave them, and the name of the proposed executor of your estate. Alternate beneficiaries and alternate executors are highly recommended.
